Soccer

Mom is getting me ready to go to soccer today and I thought I should share with you how much I am enjoying soccer. I already finsished one session as a "Thumper" and have now moved on to the "Cottontails." Soccer is really fun. Every Saturday morning, we head to the soccer park for our class which is about an hour long.

Soccer at my age is not in the form of a game but more in soccer drills where we learn skills that we will need when we actually get old enough to play games. We stretch out, play games to teach us to follow directions and then we practice our drop kicks, over head throws and head bounces. It is a lot of fun and great to be part of a team. The pictures here are from when I was a "Thumper" (green shirt) this summer.

The season we are in now is fun because my friend Brandon from school has joined my class. Coach Hilary is really nice and the other day when I was bruching my teeth, I turned to Mommy and said "Coach Hilary is really cute."

My Personality

Mom wants to take over my blog for a minute to tell you about my personality. I told her that she could have permission but whenever she did, she would have to put her thoughts in Italics because otherwise you might be confused.

 
Chance is growing up so fast and one of the things I love most about my sweet boy is that he has such an amazing personality. Chance is very confident, assertive, funny, and sensitive all at the same time. On one hand, I am fearful that he will be the class clown once he gets in school and on the other other, I am just so happy that he has confidence to laugh at himself and others. Chance is constantly coming up with funny things that make me laugh so hard. I've captured most of these in his letter book so that we don't forget all the adorable things he has said. Chance stands up for himself in a way that I am very proud of. If someone is doing or saying something to him that he does not like, he will simply tell you, "I don't like that" or "No thank you". Chance is also very sensitive. When we read books or watch television shows where someone is sad, Chance always asks me why the person is sad and then tells me maybe the person needs a hug. I am thankful and blessed to have such a sweet tempered boy" With that being said, Chance is almost three and apprarently is just now hitting the "terrible twos" - It is fascinating to see him be so stubborn and strong-willed when he wants something he can't have. I am enjoying being a mom and going through all of these stages!

My Garden

If you have been following my blog for a while, you will know that in June I started a garden. Mom made a 6X6 garden box for me and got the soil all ready. Mom thought the most educational thing would be to grow a garden from seeds so I picked tomatoes, sunflowers and baby watermelons and Mom taught me how to plant them. Here is a picture from about 6 weeks after the seeds were planted. I was so excited to see that they were growing.

Every day after school, I would come out and check the garden out and water it real good with the hose. After the first couple of months mom added some drip spriklers so that if we missed a day we wouldn't have to worry but I still checked on it every day.

It was real fun to stand by the Sunflowers once a week to see if they were taller than me yet. And now that it's September, I actually have tomatoes!

It was so much fun to grow these. Mom also taught me what to do once we picked them. We went in the house, I took the green stems off each one and then I washed them real good with the water and dried them on a papertowel and now they are ready to eat. I was so excited to have grown them that I couldn't wait to try them out.

Sadly, I'm not sure I really like them. But that's ok - because Mommy loves them and has been eating them up. We have picked tomatoes at least three times this week and had baskets full everytime.

The sunflowers grew big also - there were only two of them but Mom says the seeds drop and eventually we might have more

The baby watermelons are very small (the size of a bean) and so I'll keep you posted on whether they get bigger or not!

I sure love gardening. Mom says since I did such a great job and was responsible about watering the garden and helping keep it maintained that next year, we can grow another one.

  We had a really fun camping trip in August at Camp Lammmie (rated the most fun for family camping) and I spent a lot of time in the pool, we had a water balloon fight and lots of squirt gun fun - Mommy didn't get many pictures of these events because I splash a lot and she doesn't have a waterproof camera but here are a couple more photos from that camping trip

I'm sad that this is the last week of summer because I have had such a great time. Have a great Fall everyone! 
 

3 Generations

If I haven't mentioned it already - I have a pretty awesome family. And, the times that I get to spend with my Great Grandpa are some of my favorite.

My Great Grandpa is retired and lives in La Mesa, CA. Every couple of months, my Grandma and Grandpa bring him up to Escondido and he spends the weekend with them and I get to spend a lot of time visiting with him. He is a really awesome man. He listens to me talk, and is interested in all that I am learning. One super fun thing we do together is play the harmonica. I used to just dance around when he played for me but last Christmas he bought me my very own harmonica and now we play together. It took me awhile to get the hang of blowing into it but now I know how to make music. Mommy always laughs when we play together because she thinks it is very funny how I mimic him with my hands on the side of the Harmonica.

Great Grandpa is not physically young but he is young at heart. He even likes to play football with Grandpa and I in the back yard. He also is very creative. He has made me some really fun toys using wood, magnets and plastic animals. I am very fortunate to have this quality time with him.

Last time we visited, Grandpa, me and Great Grandpa took a walk around the block and Mommy captured this awesome photo of us!

My New Blog

Mommy is still trying to get used to this new blog site and so far she has not had good luck. She has posted a new blog entry twice and tried to publish it and both times the post and the photos just disappeared. It seems this blog isn't as blog friendly as the last one but she is going to try one more time. And for some reason, she can't locate her photos once they are uploaded so she is a little frustrated.

In any case, now that Summer is over, we have some fun photos to share of some of the things we have done, so Mommy will try and post them here. She's a little hesitant about typing it all over again, so the photos may appear over a series of posts but here goes..be patient with her.

For me, Summer was all about fun - fun at school with water days, dress-up days, rodeo week, luau party, etc. The weekends were just as fun - we spent time with friends, family and just had a great all around relaxing time. I went to birthday parties, play dates, had fun in my pool and went to the park a lot. I also started playing soccer and continued to nurture my garden. Mom says her favorite thing this summer is just watching her favorite weed (me) grow up. I pretty much talk from morning to night and I love to tell stories, fix things, figure out how things work and explain them to anyone who will listen. I love being outside and I can't get enough of garbage trucks!

These next couple are of me and my buddy Brandon from school. We are also in soccer together. But on this day, we were at Isabel's birthday party - doingwhat boys do best - playing sports, bubbles, hanging out and looking at bugs (caterpillar to be specific) on the ground.

And one last photo for this post....me and one of the many animals I grew this summer! Yes - I grew animals. They were really cool - when you get them they are the size of a matchbox and then you put them in a bucket of water (preferably outside because mom thinks the water is slimy) and then over the course of a couple days...you watch them grow to be 30 times their original size. This is one the dinosaurs but I also grew a shark, a shamu and a lizard!
